HISTORY

The Greyhound is a two-ingredient highball of gin or vodka and grapefruit juice. It appeared in American drinks writing in the 1940s and was popularised by the Greyhound restaurant chain, which served a version made with canned grapefruit juice. Vodka became the default base in the 1950s, and the Salty Dog later added a salted rim.
